Why a Titanic-Themed Hotel?
Few stories have captured the imagination of the world quite like that of the RMS Titanic. More than a century after its fateful voyage, the fascination with its history, elegance, and human stories remains as strong as ever. For Unsinkable Hotels, the idea of an ocean liner-themed boutique hotel grew out of a lifelong passion and a vision to bring the Titanic’s elegance and service to life through immersive hospitality. To continue the dream that inspired the Titanic.
A Personal Inspiration Turned Vision
Our Founder & CEO Andrew Messing has been captivated by the Titanic since childhood. What began as a simple fascination - watching documentaries like Titanic: Death of a Dream and building ship models from Lego and Mega Bloks - evolved into a deep appreciation for the ship’s design, culture, and historical significance. His interest was fueled by experiences such as:
Visiting Titanic artifact exhibits at COSI in Columbus and the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan
Collecting books like Titanic: An Illustrated History by Don Lynch and Ken Marschall
Exploring how the Titanic reflected the craftsmanship and luxury of the early 20th century
These experiences shaped the concept for a hotel where guests could connect with history through design, cuisine, and ambience.
Timeless Global Fascination
The Titanic story continues to inspire millions around the world. From documentaries and museum exhibits to the enduring popularity of James Cameron’s 1997 film, people remain drawn to the beauty, tragedy, and human spirit behind the ship. Recent events like the Titan submersible expedition in 2023 and the release of 3D renderings of the wreck have reignited public curiosity, showing that the Titanic’s story remains as relevant as ever.
